podwear

Picture

what is Podwear?

The motivation for Podwear started at Stanford Hospital in the stroke rehabilitation department. Frustrated over the lack of objective, quantitative metrics, doctors and therapists sought a solution that could help them keep track of stroke rehabilitation progress.

the idea.

Podwear employs a pressure-sensing insole that transmits patient gait and pressure data via Bluetooth to an Android device, which the therapist can use during and after a therapy session.  The pressure information provides the therapist with a baseline level of disability for the patient, as well as a way to track progress throughout rehabilitation.

pressure-sensing insole

Our custom-designed insole is embedded with an array of force-sensitive resistors (FSR's).

data receiver

The insole relays pressure data to our receiver which processes and analyzes the patient's gait. This information is wirelessly transmitted to an Android device for visualization.

smartphone app

Our app provides a read-out of the patient's gait data and includes an option to replay a capture, which a therapist can use to track progress through rehabilitation.
